Sevenoaks U3A has a new publication for Group Organisers. This booklet is designed to help Group Organisers and also members who may be thinking of starting a Study Group. It may also be of interest to the general U3A member. There are three main sections:
Starting the Group;
Maintaining the Group;
Appendices, covering topics such as Resources, Copyright, Insurance, Health & Safety etc.
Nick White has completed the fifth and final local walking volume, many of these tested by members of the Half Day Walking Group. Four of these volumes, including this latest, are substantial revisions to the late Roland Oakley’s walking books. Volume 5, which was published first, are walks devised by Nick himself. The volumes are folders containing loose-leaf walks which can be carried around separately. All five books are available at
* The Sevenoaks Bookshop * the Ide Hill Community Shop * Up and Running * the Sevenoaks Society (book sponsors)
LODGES OF SEVENOAKS
A new book by U3A member Elizabeth Purves with Geraldine Tucker chronicles the history of the lodges and coach houses in Sevenoaks which still survive. Many of the great houses and Victorian mansions have been demolished but their lodges remain. These small buildings are often forgotten. Over 50 lodges or coach houses with their host buildings are described and illustrated with colour photographs. This book will make an ideal Christmas present ! £12 from the Sevenoaks Bookshop.
